The color of the Ocean

Invited on art residency aboard the scientific sailboat TARA, I worked with the oceanographer Marie Barbieux so as to tell a story about the blue color of the Ocean. I photographed the living elements, algae and marine animals such as phytoplankton and zooplankton, which are sampled every day aboard the sailboat and are essential to cycles of life under the sea and on the earth.

The diversity of these organisms gives the color of the ocean, a blue color that varies with the ocean currents and the seasons.
