The white marble of your eyes
2018-2021 – Artist residency invited by the PhotoLux festival in Lucca and CMP Bastia, in Viareggio, Italy. I knew neither the city of Viareggio nor its inhabitants. During 15 days I walked around and photographed its parks, its gardens, its overcrowded beaches on weekends but deserted during the week, its museums, books in some photobookshops, the marbles quarries that dominate the landscape; then those who lives there: a young man painted by Pontormo in the sixteen century , that girl from Forte dei Marmi, Good Luck just arrived from Nigeria(…). These portraits and these landscapes, partly printed on marble plates recovered from the Santa Pietra quarries, draw a landscape in which we live together. (May 2018, Viareggio, Italy)
2018-2021 – Résidence d’artiste invitée par le festival PhotoLux, Lucca et le CMP, Bastia ) Viareggio, Italy. Je ne connaissais pas la ville de Viareggio ni ses habitants. Durant 15 jours j’ai arpenté et photographié ses parcs, ses jardins, ses plages surpeuplées le week-end mais désertes en semaine, ses musées et livres faisant écho à mon errance, les carrières de marbre qui dominent le paysage et puis ceux qui y vivent: le jeune inconnu peint par Pontormo au 16em siècle, une jeune fille en vacance à Forte dei Marmi, Good Luck arrivé tout juste du Nigeria (…). Ces portraits et ces paysages imprimés pour une partie sur des chutes de plaques marbre récupérées dans les carrières de Santa Pietra, dessinent un paysage dans lequel, ensemble nous habitons.
